Weaving Tour

Learn to weave and dye in an authentic way!

We invite you to join us for a free complimentary tour of approximately 20 minutes.

For those of you who’d love to dive deeper and get hands on experience, we’ll offer the following paid options.

You will learn the specialty of the women of San Juan La Laguna, starting with the spinning of the cotton, dyeing the thread with natural products and even obtain a piece of fabric made with the backstrap loom. You will learn each technique and be accompanied by a weaver during the process. The entire tour and workshop will take place in a cooperative outside of MayAchik.

We offer you the following options:

• Option 1: 1-hour class where you will learn the weaving techniques from San Juan. For this option, you will use the weaver´s materials.
• Option 2: 3-hour workshop where you will learn how to dye with natural plants and the back strap weaving technique. This tour does not include material.
• Option 3: 4-hour class with material included (thread), where you will learn about weaving and dyeing. At the end of the experience, you can keep the piece you made.
