Birdwatching tour group observing wildlife near Lake Atitlán

San Juan La Laguna and its surrounding hillsides are home to a wide range of birds, from hummingbirds and tanagers to birds of prey.

Led by a guide specialized in bird species, this tour is a good introduction to the local birdlife and offers insights into the characteristics of each bird and the seasons when they can be spotted.

We recommend starting at 6:00 am, when birds are most active, though later start times can be arranged on request.

If you’re specifically hoping to see the resplendent quetzal, our dedicated Quetzal Tour (available January to April) is a better fit — ask us which one suits what you’re looking for.
