Weaving Tour

Learn to weave and dye in an authentic way!

We invite you to join us for a free complimentary tour of approximately 20 minutes.

For those of you who’d love to dive deeper and get hands-on experience, we’ll offer the following paid options.

You will learn the specialty of the women of San Juan La Laguna, starting with the spinning of the cotton, dyeing the thread with natural products, and even obtaining a piece of fabric made with the backstrap loom. You will learn each technique and be accompanied by a weaver during the process. The entire tour and workshop will take place in a cooperative close to MayAchik.

We offer you the following options:

• Option 1 is a 1-hour class where you will learn the weaving techniques from San Juan. For this option, you will use the weaver’s materials. The price is Q65 per person.
• Option 2 is a 3-hour workshop where you will learn how to dye with natural plants and the back strap weaving technique. You will use the weaver’s thread for this option and you won’t be able to take your work home. The price is Q175 per person.
  
• Option 3 is a 4-hour workshop where you will not only learn and practice the skills, but also leave with your own little masterpiece, which will be a small scarf with a width of 8 inches and a length of up to 30 inches, depending on your skills. This is our most popular option and costs Q275 per person.
