Eco Hotel MayAchik is seeking enthusiastic and dedicated volunteers to join our team as Receptionists. Our hotel is a peaceful, quiet, vegetarian, and eco-friendly establishment, and we invite like-minded individuals to join us. Meat is not prepared or served on the property, in keeping with our vegetarian kitchen.
This position is ideal for individuals who are passionate about eco-friendly hospitality, eager to learn, and excited to contribute to a positive guest experience.
Volunteer Activities:
- Manage Reservations and Inquiries: Handle reservations and respond to inquiries via email, booking sites, WhatsApp, social media, and phone.
- Update Bookings: Manage and update bookings across various channels such as booking.com, Hostelworld, Airbnb, and Expedia using tools like myallocator and Google Sheets.
- Coordinate Cleaning Schedules: Organize and adjust cleaning schedules based on check-outs and extended stays.
- Ensure Guest Satisfaction: Welcome guests warmly, address concerns promptly, and offer effective solutions to enhance their stay.
- Restaurant Support: Take restaurant orders, serve meals, and assist with the promotion of tours and services.
- Provide Local Tips and Assistance: Offer guests local tips, answer their questions, and facilitate their needs.
Work Options:
- Option 1: Work 5 days a week, 5 hours a day, with breakfast provided every day.
- Option 2: Work 5 days a week, 6.5 hours a day, and receive an additional meal on working days.
Schedule:
- Schedules are defined weekly, and volunteers are asked to remain flexible to accommodate any unforeseen events.
- Saturdays and Sundays are always working days.
Qualifications:
- Skills:
- Proficiency in both Spanish and English is preferred.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Basic computer skills and familiarity with reservation systems.
- Customer-oriented mindset with a commitment to providing exceptional service.

Rules:
No Drugs or Smoking: Guatemalan law enforces drug possession strictly, and police check the property regularly. The consequences for being caught can be severe. For that reason, drug use, smoking, and being under the influence of any substance are not allowed anywhere on the property. None of the MayAchik staff smoke, and we ask volunteers to follow the same policy during their stay.
