This walking route from Santa Cruz to San Marcos follows the lake’s northern shore, past small villages most visitors only see from the water.
You start with a short boat ride from San Juan to Santa Cruz. From there, your guide leads you on foot through Jaibalito and Tzununá, with the lake and its volcanoes in view for most of the walk.
The hike ends in San Marcos La Laguna. If you have time, the Cerro Tzankujil Nature Reserve is a short walk further, with a well-known platform for jumping into the lake (entrance fee not included).
