This short local tour introduces you to meliponas, the stingless bees traditionally valued in Mayan culture.
You’ll visit a local keeper, see how honey is extracted from the hives, and learn why these bees matter. Then you’ll taste honey with a flavor very different from supermarket honey: tangy, complex, and surprising for many guests. Depending on the day, you may also try products from African honeybees, kept in the forest nearby.
